Rainbow Horizons Reminds You About the Original Gay Hockey Novel: Mice At Centre Ice

The Recent Popularity and Critical Acclaim of Heated Rivalry has the Publisher saying "We did it first!"

Heated Rivalry has become a cultural phenomenon. The steamy TV show, based on the steamy novel, based on the steamy imagination of Rachel Reid has dominated entertainment this year. The love story between two same-sex hockey players has opened the door for conversations about sexuality in sports that have previously been ignored and shamed. However, publisher Rainbow Horizons CEO Chester Richard wants people to remember one thing: "We did it first"

They are talking about the classic children's novel "Mice at Centre Ice" by Estelle Salata. A fixture in all Canadian classrooms, the novel tells the story of the Mouse Hockey Leaguers and their quest to defeat the Rink Rats to reclaim the stolen Cheddar Cup. (and if you are not Canadian, I promise you, all of that is true and we can all vouch for it).

"Look, when you read about Benny the Bullet going head to head with Old Rat Fink, it is just dripping with sexual tension." Says Richard. The Rival Captains share little screen time but Richard insists there is more subtext in there. "Read it again as an adult. Go ahead, buy another copy. You'll see! You'll ALL see! Those 2 were clearly having a steamy, secret affair!"

When we followed up by saying we had re-read it and still didn't really notice any chemistry between the two, Richard responded that we had bad reading comprehension and wouldn't know subtext if it bit us in the face.

Then he claimed the original copy of Mice had way more explicit scenes between the two but they had to be cut because Author Estelle Salata was reminded that this was a children's novel for kids age 8-10 to read in school.

"Here I'll read a line from the original edit, you just censor whatever you have to for your little news article thing, ok?

"Benny ****** the **** of Fink's **** and yelled '**** me and **** my ******* until I ****** my ***** all over ****** and ****'

'*******! *******! ********! I'm ****** so ******* ****. I love you Benny The Bullet but tomorrow, I will beat you on the ice'"
